As usual in my life, this weekend was an interesting one. Alex & I had been planning on going to visit Delacey (my sister) in Richmond and go to King's Dominion while we were up there, but Alex found the car he wanted, this time in New York City. So he asked if I wanted to go with him and look at apartments. So we got tickets Thursday night after I worked in Siler City for 12 hours...we left at 6am on Saturday and got to the City just before 8, walked 2 miles through Queens and examined the car for a few hours, taking it to a mechanic, etc. Alex DID decide to get it, and we started our drive through Manhatten at around 2pm. We drove down Broadway, just trying to get an idea of the neighborhoods and where they were. Then we headed down to Richmond at around 4:30. We got there at 11pm and went out to get a drink with Dr Alex. Fun fun. We went to sleep at 2am, making our day 22 hours long. Woah.
Sunday we went with Delacey to King's Dominion, which was def a good time. Finally, we started back to Chapel Hill at around 5:30...I was supposed to go out to Ahoskie, NC Sunday night, but I knew it would be way too late to get packed & settled, so I worked things out so u didn't need to start on Monday until 11am. So I got things packed Monday morning and drove to Windsor, where I'm working for the next 2 weed, realizing on my way already that I'd forgotten a pair if shoes, a towel and socks. But I got here just fine, and found it to be much nicer than anticipated. The people have mostly been really nice, so that's always good.
I made my way back to Ahoskie after I finished work at 7:30pm and met the two girls who will be living in the house with me. They are both nice--PA students from Iowa--and they seem spunky and easy to get along with. Unfortunately, I have no cell signal, even 8 miles away from the house...kind if lame if you ask me...but I do have internet, so I'm not totally disconnected, but it's still annoying. It is also a solid half-hour drive from Ahoskie where I'm staying and Windsor where I'm working, which I am NOT a fan of, partly because I don't have air conditioning in my car, plus gas is so ridiculous...but life goes on I guess.
That's all for now!
