So, I started out saying this week has been immensely boring and then REALIZED that we WON THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP so it can't be boring!! It was very exciting. Monday at least. I also got to see some Chapel Hill people I hadn't seen for a while--high school theatre peoples who happen to be in New York. So that was pretty sweet. PLUS we went to this place, Brother Jimmy's (owned by guys from NC) that had BLUE CUPS from He's Not Here (a bar on Franklin, for anyone who doesn't know...)!!! Everyone was very excited. Including me. Despite not caring (honestly) THAT much about blue cups, it was just pretty sweet to see something from home, ya know? But perhaps because of Monday night, I've been exhausted all week. Yesterday I was going to have dinner and practice Spanish with Erica, but I was just too tired. So I watched several episodes of House instead.
In other Chapel Hill news, Anoop is still in the American Idol competition! yay! That's pretty much all I have to say about that. Except that he's starting to get into the REAL competition, as the people who were obviously worse than everyone else are quickly vanishing...
Okay moving on. I don't have to go to work tomorrow, which is ssssweet except that it's supposed to rain (and, of course, it's gorgeous today). And I kind of want to go to a museum or something, but there will just be so many children there, I know I would not enjoy it. So we'll see. Maybe I'll figure out something else interesting to do by myself...
I'm still on the Peace Corps kick. I've almost finished my application, but I'm still working on getting recommendations (partly just deciding who to use). But I've written both of the essays I need and edited my resume to the point where it's ready to be a part of the application. I've also filled out the rest of the tedious parts (like my address, work history, school history, etc) and gotten my transcripts from UNC & App, though I think I don't need those until later. But I want to go ahead and just do all this--I know I also have to get a medical evaluation, and I was thinking about trying to do THAT tomorrow. But that's not gonna happen.
I went to the library yesterday and got Savage Inequalities, a book about the racist undertones of our segregated education system in the US. So far a good read. Upsetting but interesting, and a nice combination of anecdotes and facts or information about the various communities he visits. So I'm gonna go read that a bit, or do some yoga/pilates. Not sure which yet. Maybe I'll even go for a run...
